Why My Heart Is Still Beating (January)

I watched a movie where two questions were asked: Do you have joy? and Who have you brought joy to?

The first question was an affirmation; the answer was yes. I have joy.

The second question was a challenge. Even though there are those I have brought joy to, the second question has challenged me to be a joy-bringer, a peacemaker.

Today, a lovely couple looked at the title of my book, The Peacemaker, and mistook it for "The Pacemaker".

Oddly enough, it could have been entitled "The Pacemaker". A pacemaker is something that keeps the heart beating steadily, that keeps it from going into an arrhythmia.

If I could act as a "pacemaker" for someone, that would be an honour.

Tonight, I watched live theatre, one where audience members were asked to list three things they would say if they could write their own obituaries. If I could, I would love to say of myself these things:

1. She loved well.

2. She brought joy to the hearts of those she knew.

3. It can be said of her, "Well done, good and faithful servant."

These are the things my heart longs for, the desires of my heart, the intentions of my life.

So be it.
